The darling buds of May
May. 14th, 2005 09:23 amWhen did it turn into summer? Some time over the past two weeks I blinked and all the leaves came out on the trees. In London, if I have nothing to do (which I haven't for the past two weeks) I tend to be the laziest person on the planet and stay in bed, which must be the reason; you can't see such a thing as Nature out of my bedroom window, you can just see into the flats opposite. I've been hibernating.
I'm at my Mum's at the moment, having a brief break before I go back to the real world (London) and start a real job (we shan't talk about that - I can't even think of it without feeling sick with nerves.)
Out here in the (relative!) countryside, the summer is much more pronounced. The sun is shining everyday and only a cold wind stops it from feeling very warm. We've been driving out of town a lot, and I wished I had my camera so that you guys could see how stunning it is around here in the summer. The verges and hedgerows and bursting with lush green life, the fields are full and fat, an occasional square of yellow rapeseed making the landscape even brighter. All the flowers are out, and the other day my Grandmother and I sat in a churchyard and ate ice creams. I took my shoes off, it was wonderful :)
My sister is here at the moment, which is quite difficult - or rather, she is! - and she made me go out with her and Tim last night. We ended up going to the Crooked House (have you been,
rossywar?) which is an old Victorian building that, because of mining, is listing very heavily to one side. It's fascinating to look at, but I wouldn't recommend staying there for a prolonged period of time. Walking into it (it's a pub) made me so dizzy that I actually almost fell over twice, even while standing firmly on solid ground. Also, I saw the place where you can make things roll up hill, something about which I'd been told, but never really believed until I saw it. Yep, that's how crooked that house is!
So, shopping today, and tomorrow a fandom day with
2am_optimism, which I always look forward to. Wanna come,
rossywar? I warn you, it will be largely due South/Callum related. Yes, I have truly corrupted Cari... *evil laugh*
Oh, and GIP! because I love me some Boyd!Draco.
