zoetrope: (SGA - No frills John)
I'm unemployed now - it's a wonderful feeling. Well, apart from the general I'll-never-get-another-job paranoia. Other than that... freedom!

I've been filling my days with such high-powered job-seeking as watching SGA and reading SGA and writing SGA and-- well, you get the picture. There was also a fantasy involving an AU in which John, instead of being born on earth, was born on a planet in the Pegasus galaxy that the team eventually come across during a mission.

John is a member of a tribe that lives high in the trees of a rain-forest (insert many Ewok references here). When Rodney and team come through the gate in search of (insert plot device here), they are treated as Gods by the natives, and Rodney is given John, son of the tribal elder, in a sacrificial marriage.

There then commences much awkwardness and resistance of temptation until Rodney finally-- yeah, then the good stuff happens. It's not even that far off canon, or at least SG canon. See under: The Marriages Of Jackson, Daniel.

In other news, I rewatched Rising today, and have noticed some discrepancies with later seasons. These contain implicit spoilers for everything up to 2x10, so if you wish to remain pure, look away now.

Is it me, or by The Lost Boys do we no longer see:

1. The Wraith making people see things.

2. Evidence of life in the Wraith, even after death - as with one Wraith's arm still moving, Addams-family-style, after it has been blown off.

3. The Wraith sensing the feelings of the humans. This might be taking it too far, but the Guardian Wraith chick can sense Colonel Sumner's hunger, as well as his answers to her questions. Surely she can also therefore sense other feelings as well?

4. John naming things. (This should be continued for the simple fact that it is, for some reason, extremely hot.)

An interesting move away from the things that originally made the Wraith quite sinister. At least for me, the person who cannot watch an episode of Buffy without lots of lights on, a cushion to hide behind, and the 'mute' button at the ready.

Finally, I love Rodney. Why don't I have a Rodney icon?

That will be all.
