Tales from the cute

A friend's nephew recently had this conversation with his Dad. The kid is about four:

Dad: So, what do you want for your birthday?
Little boy: I want a Transformer... that turns into a Barbie
Dad: Er, well, you can't really get those. They usually turn into something like a car or an airplane...
Little boy:... Then I want a Barbie.
Dad: Well, you can't. You see-- Barbie's are really for girls.
Little boy:... Then I want to be a girl.

In other news, I've been having a major West Wing fest in the last few days, and a plot bunny has taken over my mind. Weir as the President, Rodney as the Chief of Staff, Zelenka as his Deputy etc etc... John as the hooker Rodney accidentally sleeps with, then tries to reform, and ends up falling in love with. *Sigh*

SGA is so easy to shoehorn into any AU isn't it? (SGA is just easy, more like.*g*) I was telling [livejournal.com profile] minervacat earlier that there should be a Days of Thunder AU, with John as the maverick race car driver and Rodney as, um, Nicole Kidman.

SGA is sort of the black dress of fandom//sluttiest fandom in the room, isn't it? Which is probably what we all like about it. This story of yours made me laugh out loud because it is so perfectly you. You should write it just for the entertainment value you (and then the rest of us) will get out of it....or at least the McShep part. ;D

Still in Wolves? Sorry I wasn't around this weekend, I wish I had been! I kept getting home and seeing your IM and thinking, "dammit!" Sigh. Hope you're enjoying your long weekend!

Hee... I'll see what I can do. Though being British I doubt even unlimited watching of The West Wing will lead to me being able to write US politics with any amount of realism at all!

Heh, I know what you mean, but I have to reassure you that if that's what he wants then he'll get it, without any issues. I think his dad was just having a stupid moment. When my mate told me the story, she prefaced the dad's "to have a barbie, you have to be a girl" sentence with the phrase "then his dad very stupidly said..." *g*
