Mar. 23rd, 2007 10:02 pmDear Everyone in the world who is totally fucking insensitive,
For future reference, nothing is more likely to FUCK ME OFF than for us to have the following exchange:
Me: "Yeah, I was suffering from OCD"
Whoever: "Oh, yeah, I have that. I wash my hands a lot."
ARGH. Seriously. FUCK RIGHT OFF.
Love,
Me xx

Date: 2007-03-24 02:17 am (UTC)I have a nephew with Tourette's, who has been very open with people about his problem (he twitches, but doesn't have random utterances. It's a fairly mild case, fortunately.) But it comes with other syndromes, including OCD, and he had a roommate at college who said the stupidest shit to him about it. Fortunately, he has other friends who let the roommate know he was being an asshole.
Sorry you've had a close encounter with one of those assholes.

Date: 2007-04-06 06:58 am (UTC)Look, most people just want to fit in and belong. Most people will sign on to anything to feel accepted. The average person, confronted by the ghost of a recent murder victim would respond, "Oh My God! Death runs in my family! I know just how you feel!"
Just roll with it.

Date: 2007-04-06 09:35 pm (UTC)Sorry to randomly wander into this post, but I read a rec (http://painless-j.livejournal.com/127856.html) for your story, Cross My Name Out and Write in Yours and was sad to find that it was locked.
Do you have your HP stories archived somewhere else, or will you consider unlocking it (even temporarily)?
Many thanks for considering my request :)

Date: 2007-04-12 01:54 am (UTC)I don't know what to say, really.
I loved your story to bits and cannot think how I missed it the first time around :)
I adore wizards-exiled-in-the-Muggle-world scenarios. I love plots that deal with removing/altering memories. I love stories, if set in a real location, that have authentic details of locale. You executed all of these things so superbly.
Most of all, I loved your Draco and Harry. And this line made me ache:
David who liked Arsenal, had appalling taste in music, drank bad beer like a fish, ate as much Thai food as humanly possible and wanted to snog Gwen Stefani before he died.
When Harry realises that he'd taken away (in his typically unthinking, impulsive way) the happiest life Draco had ever known, it was such a poignant moment.
I also have to say, you have just too much good taste -- the point where you ended the story is unutterably *perfect*
Thank you so much for a fantastic read!
