I prefer a feeling that they switch off in general? But if there's only one sex scene in the story, I prefer Bottom!John.

There! More than you needed to know! *g*

...is that a Muybridge icon?!

I don't think so, I made it from an image of a zoetrope I got off a google image search :)

Ahh. The horse made me think of Muybridge, and I'm too blind to tell if it's running on a grid. Could it maybe be a zoopraxiscope image? That was Muybridge's equivalent...

*overly concerned with this*

HEE!

One day I really must make that expanded post on this topic. Your comment the other day about the Romance vs Sci-fi path was rather illuminating :)

I prefer bottom John, but it's not like I don't enjoy Rodney getting a good fucking every now and then.

I said I didn't have a preference, but that doesn't quite express the degree to which I think both are plausible, hot, and interesting. And I actually quite like fics that take a stance on one of them being a bottom more than the other, and that being okay and good and not necessarily meaning that the other partner isn't "opening up" enough or whatever. (yikes).

I don't remember who wrote it, but there was a fic where the author offhandedly said that Rodney fucked John all the time, not because they'd discussed it or had issues or even necessarily had preferences, but just because it's what they do most of the time, because they had habits like couples do. I loved that.

Yeah, that story is Helen's "Your Inevitable Unhappy Ending." Just saying...

I chose "Switching off", but what I really like is when it's part of the story. (Like Rodney always tops and thinks John wouldn't want that and John not knowing how to ask, and then of course Rodney finding out and doing something about it. That works the other way round too :-)
