I'm sick today, and have been largely LJ absent. I've been changing my life, I guess, and been on a course to help me get into the wonderful, oh so wonderful, world of Visual Effects.

Finished the course on Friday, got a job that starts tomorrow, which yay, because I'm really, really poor now. But also woah, because I have barely time to breathe before I'm working for MPC, and eek, because I'm terrified, and *sneeze* because I'm sick.

However, something wonderful is happening online, because Lim has just posted the podfic she's been nurturing for months, and it is wonderful.

Download, and listen, and wonder at all her hard work, at in fact the hard work of loads of people in fandom:

Written by the Victors, by Speranza, The Podfic Project

I downloaded and have been listening to it, and it is wonderful, not only because of the great story that is at its core, but because it feels like something... huge. Like we, fandom as a whole, has taken a deep breath and vocalised our passion for each other and the show and the characters.

There were 36 people involved in the project - myself included - and hearing those voices come together really has brought an added dimension to fandom for me.

I honestly can't urge you strongly enough. Go read, and tell Speranza and Lim how wonderful they are for putting this project together.

Now I'm off once more to sneeze, blow my nose, toss my tissue in the general area of the bin, and start rotoscoping. Eep!

I'm actually savoring that fic by reading it via my mobile phone. Not only is it good and easily accessible, it in nice black text in white background ;)

Also, it will make interesting anomalies in the "who viewed your page and with what"-statistics :)

I hate being read to, but I love this story so much that I've made an exception and downloaded the podfic. Now I just need to find 5+ hours to listen to it. I'm very impressed that you are John Sheppard!

Good luck with the job -- it sounds amazingly glamorous.

the entire project is incredible, and lim's work basically UNFATHOMABLE, but your contribution to it is amazing all by itself. your reading is really beautiful, thank you...

I do not want to discount the other readers, they were wonderful as well. But your performance was incredible. Your crisp voice, easy to understand 95% of the time even to me (I have a minor hearing problem, so people that don't enunciate and speak clearly enough often sound like Charlie Brown's teacher to me, especially at a significant distance.) The clarity of your speech is of course only the beginning -- the emotion you conveyed with your voice, the humor, passion, excitement, fear, wonder -- it was just...amazing. I was enthralled. Thank you!
