Jul. 28th, 2008 08:46 amOh, the adventures that have been had since my last post!
Housesitting in Surrey was on the whole sunny and delightful, with a lot of time spent in pubs with friends, and not all that much time fending off daddy long legs - always the preferable balance.
My soon-to-be ex-flatmate
rossywar and friend N visited for a long weekend, and we had adventures going on these things called 'walks', which I'd never really heard of before. So their sense of adventure took us away from the world, and my sense of direction bought us back. If you've got
rossywar on your friendslist, she was doing that posting pictures meme during her time there, so you can take a peek, but they're flocked. Otherwise, I've posted a couple of her pics and a couple of mine behind the cut.

My sole responsibility: watering the garden. Aaaaargh!
The view from where I was sunbathing - garden wilderness.

What some people call 'watching the telly like a lazy sod while it's a beautiful day outside' I call 'sheltering from the sweltering sun'.

rossywar/Gordon Ramsey OTP.

Lunch, al fresco.
So that was nice.
The next main adventure was that of the Near Death Experience, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the RAC.
Juicy, DMJ and I had all been for a rather stimulating day out at Warwick Castle.* On the drive back to London in my father'spiece of shit car, on the M40, going 90mph in the fast lane (don't tell the cops), one of the rear tyres burst. Yay!
Juicy said afterwards that, if I'd sworn colourfully she'd have known nothing was wrong. But as it was, I just went. "Hmm, okay then," in a Very Calm Voice, and put the hazard lights on.
Life on the hard shoulder isn't as much fun as you might think. We didn't have to wait too long for the RAC though, and in the meantime two police patrols stopped to make sure we were ok, and one of them took my number so he could check in with us, so we felt relatively safe. They did, however, advise us to get out of the car and onto the bank, in case we were hit by a sleeping driver, so we ended the evening watching the most amazing sunrise and singing songs by the side of the road, wrapped in blankets and scarves. If I'd got with me my USB cable, you could have had pics, but those will have to come at a later date.
We made it home after midnight, in true Cinderella style, but not before I'd inadvertently answered the phone to the police while I was driving. Yeah, probably not the best idea.
Side-of-the-road CD, coming soon!:
My Baby Just Cares For Me
Bless Yore Beautiful Hide
I Wanna Be Loved By You
I Say A Little Prayer
and more!
Since then it's been mostly watering my dad's six billion bonsai trees and getting work applications out (*groan, never gonna get a job, etc. etc.*).
Yesterday I escaped from my father's unique brand of idiocy and escaped north to my mother once more. The train was packed, as always, and on the way off the train, through a crush of Mancunians, I accidentally hit a little boy in the face with my handbag. I was so flustered by this, that I flailed a little trying to get it out of his face, and accidentally poked the guy standing next to him in the eye. Or the nose. I'm not sure; I just knew my finger was wet.
So then I had to stand there until the conductor opened the doors, with a wet finger - I obviously couldn't wipe it, that would be impolite *g* - with giggles crowding into my throat like bubbles, but unable to let them loose. I cackled my way from the train to the car, though, causing a few people to look at me askance!
Anyway, yes, it's been a busy few weeks. Hope you're all well out there in LJ land!
*I really can't recommend it enough. Men dressed as stableboys everywhere. What is it about breeches, soft boots and a laced-up shirt that makes even the least sexy man in the place at risk of me climbing him like a tree? God, I have such a Chatterley kink. Also, I love the dungeon. But not in a kink-way, I swear. It's just gruesome and weirdly compelling.
