Ever look for a response for those people who insist that women are equal now, and that the only people who still harp on about feminism are hairy-legged lesbian separatists?

Some hard facts from Womankind.org.uk:

- Women do two-thirds of the world's work, yet earn just 10% of the world's income and own 1% of the world's property.

- 75% of the world's illiterate people are women.

- Violence against women causes more deaths and disability among women aged 15 – 44 than cancer, malaria, traffic accidents or war.

- 80% of those displaced by violent conflict and disasters are women.

- Women hold only 14% of parliamentary seats worldwide.

Food for thought.

i heard on the radio today (by Linda someone, who wrote "entombed", and who started new york's SVU, in reference to why she personally thought scott peterson was guilty)

"the leading casue of death of pregnant women is homicide. it's an extremely vulnerable time for them."

Unfortunately, that doesn't surprise me. I think there is still such a big fear of women in power. By virtue of biology we are the stronger sex (by this I mean stamina) - really, men giving birth? Pshawwww. Abortion would be drive through. And again, by virtue of biology we are able to multitask much more easily than men.

It's sad and such a waste of potential. The glass ceiling gives such a pretty view, but damn it's hard on the head.

I know it's short notice but as I have the night off Tuesday I'm having a pancake party - if you and Ros are free I'd be delighted if you could attend. It's not slashy unfortunately but there will be crepes galore.
