Maraschino cherries?!
Jun. 1st, 2005 06:45 pmI must admit that I've always loved a good rainy day. There are of course stipulations to this love. Like, I love a good rainy day if I can stay in the warm. I love a good rainy day if all the windows close properly. I love a good rainy day if I can sit in a hot bath and look out the window at people sheltering in doorways.
I can't do the latter nowadays, because my bathroom doesn't have a window. It is a marble cupboard.
I stayed in bed today because there have been scheduling changes with the show I work on. Big ones. This means everyone got some time off, and I took mine this week and my mum came down from the Midlands and stayed with me.
We took one of those cheesy bus rides around London, with possibly the worst tour guide ever giving the commentary. Mum and I kept giggling. We were quite cruel. But honestly:
Tour Guide: And coming up is where Henry the Fif-- Eighth met with the Papal... met to talk about getting a divorce from Catherine of Aragon. They wouldn't let him, so this of course led to the disillusion of the monasteries.
Mum and I were giggling, imagining all the Monks sitting around, shoulders drooping, gloomily saying: "Oh, what's the use. I can't be bothered!"
And now for some random thoughts:
* If you've had a glass of wine and a vodka and cranberry juice, people can strip right in front of you and sometimes? You don't even notice.
* Katherine Moennig? Is really fucking hot.
* I dreamt about Charlotte last night. I usually dream either about her leaving me, or us reconciling. It's a record, though. I haven't dreamt about her in at least two weeks.
* There are men in the world who say they never masturbate. Uh huh. I actually know one.
* I'm going chocolate cold-turkey.
* I read the hottest hottest hottest H/D fic today. Man, it was so hot. Wow. Yeah. Hot. And pornographic. I warn you.
* People can get very over-excited on occassion. And feel totally ashamed moments later. ETA - God, how can this get *more* embarrasing each time I attempt to listen to it? You're evil
2am_optimism!
* I really fucking want some chocolate.
* There is nothing more obnoxious than getting a casual text from someone who has ignored you for a month. Oh, wait, there is. Said person saying in text: "Sorry I haven't been in touch. I'M IN LOVE!" It could only be more annoying if she'd used text-speak.

Date: 2005-06-01 11:20 am (UTC)Cockles are the family Cardiidae of bivalve mollusks.
The rounded shells are symmetrical, heart-shaped and feature strongly pronounced ribs. The mantle has three apertures (inhalant, exhalant, and pedal) for siphoning water and for the foot to protrude. Cockles typically burrow using the foot and feed by siphoning water in and out, sifting plankton from it. They are also capable of 'jumping' by bending and straightening the foot. Unlike most bivalves, cockles are hermaphroditic and reproduce quickly.
A cockle.
So there you go :)
