It's so beautiful here today. Is there anything better than waking up with dappled sunlight on your curtains? Probably. But still, it's pretty damn nice.
I haven't been around much, and so have been missing a lot of my flist. Let me know if I miss anything very important or exciting :) Damn not being able to surf LJ at work.
Spent last Sunday with
2am_optimism - her new house is lovely - and next weekend we're going to be very sad fangirls and go to the London Film and Comic Con to see Billy Boyd, Charisma Carpenter and Adam Baldwin! I'm restraining my squee :)
On Thursday night I went out with an old friend for "a quick drink" and happened to bump into another old friend. Three bottles of wine and six hours later I was stumbling home to four hours sleep and work bright and early the next morning*.
However, my friend did tell me a highly amusing story. She works for a national newspaper and was recently the butt of a joke in Private Eye due to the fact that, during an undercover article investigating A&E waiting times, she had to pretend to have a broken wrist. When she was seen quickly by one of the hospitals, she was extremely surprised to be diagnosed with actually having a broken wrist. She had fallen on it a while before, but hadn't realised it had actually fractured. Hence great mockery and being the butt of office jokes ever since.
Last night it was brief after-work drinks for my colleague as it's his birthday on Monday. No bottles of wine and six hours later, I stumbled home from Brixton - where we eventually ended up - and fell into bed, exhausted. At least they couldn't make me dance.
But Brixton was amazing. I haven't been there for years, and admittedly the atmosphere was unique last night due to the fact that it was as hot as Spain in July, but still, so vibrant and fun. It felt very boring going back to the empty streets of Southwark.
You know, I think the most depressing phrase in the entire world might be "My boyfriend says..." It has so many connotations, all of them disheartening. I vow never to say it.
Plan for today includes going to the gym, maybe moseying over to Borough Market for a treat, maybe polishing my latest H/D, maybe going to The Candy Bar this evening, depending on what friends are doing. Hope all you Londoners on my flist are able to enjoy the sun today - sorry
rossywar :( - and that those outside of the UK have a lovely day too.
Oh, and happy belated birthday to
kittygoslingp!
* Apologies to
cincodemaygirl for leaving her drunken answerphone messages... and to
hackthis for harrassing her with drunken comments :)

Date: 2005-06-20 03:17 pm (UTC)I feel vaguely ashamed that it's the first time I've been there since I moved to London six years ago!
And I'll hold you to that drunken comment thing. *goes to find bottle of vodka*
