Guess who's sleeping with the light on tonight?

You've never really heard a scream until you've heard someone scream in absolute unbridled terror. A woman in my building was attacked inside the security gate. Deeply asleep, I heard her scream "somebody help me, please!" at the top of her lungs. She screamed so loudly that it sliced into my dream. It woke me up instantly.

I ran to the window and by the time I got there, people were already walking up and down the street looking for this girl. There was blood on the floor. He'd waited inside the security gate for somebody to come back, then when she walked in, he'd jumped her. She is all right, but has cuts on her arms.

I'm a little shaken, and really wish that I was in the sleepy little town I grew up in right now, instead of the big bad city. It has never seemed less like home than the past few weeks.
