(Or, Life of an Administrator)

Firstly, a little disclaimer. This post contains details about the minutiae of my day that may bore the pants off you. Please check your pants if you read this.

So, I'm sitting on [livejournal.com profile] 2am_optimism's couch, preparing to learn Premiere Pro. This is good for two reasons. First: vidding! Second: Day off work!

Quick query: we were chatting last night, and I told 2am that I definitely did not, in any way, consider myself a vidder. When you think of little ole zoetrope, do you think: "vidder"...? Just curious :)

So, it's been an interesting week.

On Monday mileage claims were due--zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry, mileage claims were due, and I'd run out of forms. This has never happened before, although I've been in this job for months. So I phoned my fellow lowly admin friend. The following happened:

B told me to phone repro, who told me to phone the general office, who told me to phone P across town, who told me to phone L also across town, who told me to phone audit planning... who told me I had to go see them and pick up said "controlled stationery". God, I hate this job.

Anyway, so I'm in my car, pootling along happily, when suddenly smoke starts pouring from under the bonnet. Smoke! Fire! I didn't know what to do! I parked the car, turned off the engine, got out and... locked my keys in the car! I'm so known for this that I always carry a spare set, but this time, because I was only popping out, I had left them back at the office.

So there I am, parked illegally on the Mayor's car park, with a smoking car and no way to get into it.

Hee, that was fun. It's all fine now, and that part of the story is way less exciting than the first part (yes, including the boring admin stuff), so I'll leave off. But still. Car on fire!! Very dramatic it was.

Ok, now for Premier Pro for Dummies and then lunch with [livejournal.com profile] divine_miss_j. See ya!

Well, I'm woefully, terribly behind in getting around to this, but the first place I saw any of your work was in the "Absolutely Cuckoo" vid, and I adore it to pieces. *g*

So I suppose my answer is a 'yes'? ;-)

I don't know zoe, I thought I saw a pretty kick ass vid from you in the past. :)

I had a car catch on fire before. It was back in the day when we still had looong lines to register for classes at the local community college. I turned into the main entrance, my engine caught on fire and my car died. So, I'm stalled in the entrance with hundreds of students trying to get in so they can register for classes. The sad thing about it is that it was the end of that particular car.

I don't know, the trailers to "Missed the Saturday Dance" were pretty freaking awesome.

I have a question for you: how useful is Premier Pro for Dummies? I was recently gifted Premier Elements, and I still haven't graped it's main features. If you think that your book actually helped, I'll probably go and find the Elements equivalent.

Hmm. Well, I think it's supposed to be good. I know 2am has been enjoying it. I just suck suck suck at booklearning, so I had it open for a bit, but then just dove in and started playing. I guess it depends how you like to learn :)

Oh, your poor car!

Hrm. I don't think vidder, I think more "visual artist". Which includes vids, I think? Does that make sense?

Well, I just installed Elements, and it's pretty similar to WMM (is that you used for 'Missed the Saturday Dance?), except for all the mindboggling ways it isn't. It's pretty freaking awesome, but it's going to take a while to get used to.

Hmm, I think of you more as a multi-media artist. :)
