zoetrope: (SGA - Shep)
[personal profile] zoetrope
So you may or may not have noticed I've been somewhat absent lately. Boring work stuff, as usual. I have, however, managed to cultivate a whole new fandom (or two...) in the time that I've been away, and am now what is known in our flat (*cough* and my office *cough*) as The-Big-Fat-SGA-Geek-and-OMGWTFSHEPPARDISSOHOT.

Yeah, I know, what took me so long?

Anyway, I've been gathering various fannish things, and here they are, in *drumroll*... Zoetrope's Big Post O' Stuff!

Starting off with a vid!

Title: It Would Never Have Worked
Pairing: Sheppard/McKay
File Size: 9.5M
Summary: Sometimes people just aren't compatible. But in a humorous way!
Warning: Not exactly Schindler's List/some other epic film that I can't think of right now. But hopefully kinda fun nonetheless.

There are so many things I want to say about this vid, and the main thing is that I kinda gave Rodney a hard time in it. First thing you need to know is that I love and adore one Dr Rodney McKay. He's just... sometimes... an easy target.

Other than that, this vid kicked my as in all the best and worst ways, and now that I've settled on version #25633 I'd like to thank [livejournal.com profile] 2am_optimism and [livejournal.com profile] divine_miss_j for their endless betas.

And, finally, the song is by the genius that is Victoria Wood. All must worship and despair. I very much hope you enjoy.

Ok, the other thing I've been doing is converting stuff in my new shiny converting programme. *strokes new shiny converting programme*

So, from the SGA "Behind the Stargate" featurette thingy I've been making audio files of the John Sheppard fun bits, which I thought I'd share. So here we have (copy and paste the links to stop them blocking it):

Joe Flanigan gets an unexpected call from his wife on air: http://s55.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3HA5M8F92UT87180K61V8EDUAK

Joe Flanigan shows us what it's like to ride him his skateboard: http://s55.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3TH9HTBLYJ0CJ12XVHMVJ73WR7

The cast of SG-1 and SGA answer their fans' questions: http://s55.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1V213ABOOUW2F0TD0PXEANWCZY

Enjoy!

P.S. You may have noticed this is not a friends-locked post. As I'm over that bout of paranoia, from now on I will be keeping fandom-related stuff and non-classified material open.

And for the record, I still reckon that if Mrs Joe isn't ringing him for phone sex, he wants us to think that she is ;)

First -- you like Sheppard! (Great icon by the way)

Second -- the vid is great.

Third -- you actually *know* how to vid. If I ply you with wine and chocolate, will you teach me please?? (I have several vids fully formed in my head and pretty much no idea how to turn them into something ending with a dot plus three letters).

And fourth -- Joe Flanigan has *such* a great laugh. Sometime I play his commentary on 'Rising' just to listen to it.

Joe Flanigan has such a great... everything *g*

And I would be more than happy to teach you how to vid. You may also have a copy of Premiere 7.0 :-)

Let's schedule something in.

Tx

That would be great -- though unfortunately due to the sad fact that I work every other weekend and the happy fact that I am going on holiday shortly, it will probably have to be sometime in November. Or did I read that you sometimes have random time off in the week? I'm sure you've got nothing better to do than to teach me to vid!

I'm not sure Premiere would work on my computer - a mac? I was thinking I would have to use imovie (unless you have a random copy of Final Cut Pro knocking around?). I know there will be some variations between the programmes, but I'm thinking that if I can get a grasp of the basic principles it shouldn't be too different.

Joe Flanigan has such a great... everything *g*
He certainly does! There's a great bit on the extras on one of the season one DVDs with the actors who play Beckett and Ford commenting on how good-looking he is and how hairy his chest is, and his head ... right in front of him.

Ooh, I'm going to rent the S1 DVDs soon - which would you recommend I start with?

I don't have a copy of FCP unfortunately, I only have Premier or Windows Movie Maker - the easiest one to learn. But would it help you to be taught on that? Actually, the principles of assembly are pretty translatable between systems.

For two weeks now I'm busy in the week, but then I'm a member of the glorious unemployed again, so maybe sometime in the week then?

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it all! And I'm surprised my flatmate hasn't kicked me out by now, the number of times I played that song while making the vid... we both had it going round in our heads for weeks!

Hiya. Here via [livejournal.com profile] sga_newsletter. Just wanted to say: I am in love with your vid. I really can't stop watching it. It's almost embarassing, and I nearly have the song memorized.

Sadly, I can't find the song anywhere else. Where did you get it?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

You probably won't find the song anywhere online, she's a comedian in the UK so hasn't released the songs. I can't even remember where I got it from!

So instead, I've uploaded it for you here: http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=331DTV5FHTHXW0P2L8T2QG80EC

Enjoy!

GAH. I can't believe I missed this post when initally made. Do tell--how did the phone call go? *grins*

Also? I have to say. I've been trolling your LJ all morning now and the artwork you have here is just astonishingly beautiful and very fun. One of the things people never think is that great things come out of great limitations (such as having you know, "canon" and "canon pictures," whatever the hell "canon" is) but you've really pushed that limit to a lovely, wonderful place. I've loved the movie posters, I've loved the manipped art. Your brain must be a hugely fun and innovative place to be.

Aw, thanks, what a lovely comment!

Especially as I've been way way too shy to comment to you on how much I love all your fic and stuff... *blushes*

Well, thanks, I'm glad you like the art. It's so difficult to get high-res images that I tend to be quite restricted in what I can use, but that's because I'm a geek who secretly hopes to print out a poster-size "Return of the Genii" and give it to DH at a con. But I will deny that if ever questioned about it in the future *g*

I've reuploaded a couple of those links for you:
