dude, I JUST saw pretty woman a week ago on television, and was shocked by 1. How many lines I had remembered (but not remembered they were from Pretty Woman) from the time I saw it before, when I was 14. 2. How much my 14-year-old self totally didn't get that movie at all. Not, like, what your conventional movie-goer was supposed to get out of it, and also not how completely outrageous and fucked up that movie is.
However, since John's a dude, I can worry less about the gender issues, and just concentrate on the bit where Rodney takes a Bath with John and tells him about how he's angry with his father, and the part where Rodney gives John money to go BUY stuff, and no one will HELP him because he looks like a slut, and the part where Rodney gets upset and takes John shopping, and the part where Evil-Kolya-Rodney's-Business-Partner hits on John and...hits John, and it's all very tragic.

oh, and also! the bit where Rodney goes off and plays the piano of being so closed off an unable to love, but able to play piano, and then makes love to John on top of the piano. heh.
